The Sports Journalists Association of Kenya has joined Kenyans in the mourning the sudden death of sports journalist Nicholas Mudimba who passed on yesterday.

In a statement signed by SJAK’s Secretary General Moses Wakhisi, they said as an association is deeply heartbroken by the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Nicholas Mudimba.

“His departure has been incredibly difficult to accept, and the reality of his absence weighs heavily on us all. Nicholas was more than just a journalist—he was a shining light in our profession,” read part of the statement.

Wakhisi wrote that Mudimba worked for KTN, Switch TV, and Bamba Sports to his most recent role as a senior reporter at CGTN.

“He carried himself with passion, integrity, and an unshakable dedication to storytelling. His voice, his presence, and his unwavering commitment to the craft made a lasting impact on sports journalism in Kenya. But beyond the newsroom, Nicholas was family to many of us. Some of us shared the football pitch with him for fun, while others leaned on him as a brother and confidant. His kindness, laughter, and the way he made each of us feel valued will never be forgotten. To his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire journalism fraternity, we mourn with you. The pain of this loss is immeasurable, but so is the legacy he leaves behind, rest easy, Nick. It is hard to say goodbye, but you will forever live in our hearts.”
