Uasin Gishu held a successful stakeholders meeting to promote and foster the sport in the county ahead of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) election nears.
Drawn from various clubs in the county, the stakeholders aired their views on how to attract sponsors for their clubs in order to manage expenses.
“We have to ensure that our clubs get attracted to sponsors to guide us manage them well. As a branch, we need to come up with clear proposals, present them to various companies operating within the county,” said one of the club managers.
Attended by North Rift chairman Bernard Lagat, said with the coming elections, teams should be ready to elect a good leader to thrive their interests.
Lagat advised them to understand that football now days is a business that should be handled well to earn income for players.
“It is my prayer that all of you sitting here comes up with good managerial skills to promote the sport in the country. What we are seeing is not good for the sport,” said Lagat.
He said that officials should talk to the county government who can give them a lee way to stardom.
“Get organised, talk to the county government especially in the department of sports on football funding. If you have a good proposal, the government can’t let you down,” advised Lagat.
