Stars and Amavubi to play for pride

Harambee Stars will be playing Rwanda’s Amavumbi Stars in a game of pride at the Nyayo National stadium on Monday afternoon in the FIFA World Cup qualifying round.

With the match set to be played under closed doors, the Engin Firat coached side lies second last in pool E while Rwanda is last in the pool.

Kenya, which has not won any match, just like Rwanda have failed to qualify into the second round of the FIFA qualifying matches but they will be playing for their flag seeking to redeem their blotted image and salvage some pride in their matches.

This was the second time the nations were sharing spoils in this edition of the continental showpiece, having earlier played out to a barren draw in the first leg held at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi in September.

The match might just as well bear little significance given the country stares at an imminent ban by world football governing body, Fifa, following the government’s shock move to disband Football Kenya Federation on Thursday.
