Thika, Vihiga wrap KWPL unbeaten ahead of play-offs

Unbeaten Vihiga Queens and Thika Queens completed their Kenya Women Premier league matches ahead of play-offs set for next weekend.

Champions Vihiga ended Zone B unbeaten after beating Trans Nzoia Falcons 3-2 at the Moi Stadium, Kisumu.

Vihiga ended the campaign with 40 points following their only draw against Nakuru West Queens.

Zone A leaders Thika, which won all their matches of the league, wrapped up a perfect season with a 5-0 thrashing over already relegated Mathare United at Camp Toyoyo.

Mwanahalima bagged a hat-trick after Catherine Githae had opened the score in the 22nd minute that closed the first half scores at 1-0. Mwanahalima doubled the score in the 61st minute for 2-0 before Nuru Hadima scored the third for a 3-0 lead.

Mwanahalima scored the 4^th and her brace for a 4-0 lead before completing a hat-trick in the 88^th minute.

Following the conclusion of the league, top three teams in each zone will take on each other at the play-offs to determine the champion.

Wadadia, which finished 3^rd in zone A with 26 points, will be taking on Gaspo women in the play off stage at Nakuru showground on June 19^th. Gaspo finished second with 29 points in Zone A.

Zone B side Nakuru Queens, which was second with 27 points will play Ulinzi Starlets that finished third position in Zone A.

Vihiga and Thika will await the winner of the playoffs at the semi-final stage.
