Tigst Assefa breaks her won world record at London marathon

Ethiopian Tigst Assefa successfully defended her London marathon title with a women-only world record held today in Great Britain.

Assefa, running alongside Kenyans Hellen Obiri and Joyciline Jepkosgei, won the title with a world record of 2:15:41.

Assefa led a two-time Boston and New York champion Hellen Obiri, 2021 London Marathon winner Joyciline Jepkosgei and Catherine Reline Amanang’ole

Assefa secured victory in 2:15:41 after lowering her own time she set at 2:15:50 ahead of Obiri to second with her personal best of 2:15:53 and Jepkosgei completing the podium in 2:15:55.
