It was all smiles as former world cross country champion Agnes Jebet Tirop and reigning world under 20 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto drove Tuskys Cars away following their victory in December’s Tuskys Wareng Cross country championships.
After recovering from an injury, Tirop, the 2015 world cross country was optimistic that her training will be made easy with the vehicle she won.
“This is thr biggest prize I have ever won in my career. This will aid in my training ahead of national championships,” said the 2017 world 10,000m bronze medalist.
Towards the end of last year, Tirop enjoyed top form performance winning Tuskys cross country, Chebara Dam and Ziwa Farmers road race.
“I am praying that this year be good as that of last year. Winning a vehicle is good motivation for me,” added Tirop the former world cross country junior silver medalist.
After missing to break the world record with two seconds, Kipruto won the race as he targets his major title in senior cadre.
The reigning world under 20 10,000m champion will be using Discovery cross country as part of his preparations for North Rift Athletics Kenya cchampionships.
“I will be using Discovery and North Rift to prepare for national championships and probably come home with world title,” said Kipruto.
While issuing cars to the champions Tuskys senior cooperate Affairs manager Stephen Malua said the champions have been patient enough, taking more than a month to be rewarded but they were following the orders from Athletics Kenya.
“We had to wait and be given a go ahead before rewarding these champions. They had to go through anti-doping processes before we award. So we vare giving clean athletes. At the same time, we are happy that the Eldoret family has accepted us to do business and host a successful cross country championships,” said Malua.
