Top teams register wins as KPL enters day two


Former Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Ulinzi Stars, 2018 silver medalist Bandari, Posta Rangers and Western Stima registered their wins in the KPL second fixture in various fields across the country.

Ulinzi Stars thrashed newly promoted and former KPL side kenya Commercial Bank (KCB)3-1 at the Afraha Stadium.

Elijah Mwanzia opened the score in the 42nd minute form a penalty after Daniel Waweru was appended inside the penalty area but Clifton Kisiavuki equalized before Ezekiel Okare gave the soldiers the lead with his header in the 73rdfor a 2-1 lead and Timothy Odhiambo sealed the victory for former champions against the bankers.

Coastal town based and KPL silver medalist Bandari won 2-1 against 2009 champions Sofapaka at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Bandari came from a goal down to win the match in a record 100% wins. Kepha Aswani netted first for Sofapaka but then the coastal side staged a comeback and got the important goals through Yema Mwana and Wycliffe Ochomo in the last 20-minutesof the game.

Posta Rangers won 2-1 against refurbished Mt Kenya United formerly Nakumatt FC at the Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.

Ken Mutembei opened the account for the mailmen in the 22nd minute as Francis Nambute added the second and Simon Ndung’u pulled one back for the despairing Posta side in the 80th minute.

Western Stima maintained their perfect start with a 1-0 win over Tusker at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.

Henry Onyango came off the bench to score the lone goal to register the second win for Paul Ogai’s charges.
