Tuitoek to battle for Rome Ostia half marathon title

Kenya’s Dorcas Jepchirchir Tuitoek has set her focus to run her best time when she lines up at Sunday’s Roma Ostia half marathon in in Rome, Italy.

The Atlanta half marathon champion who has her personal best at 66:33 set at the 2019 Istanbul half marathon is optimitic that she will do well in the Italian City.

“I want to run my best by hitting the podium in search of a big race of the year. Running in Italy is good and I am ready to conquer it in a race that has top athletes from across the world,” she said.

Last year, Tuitoek won the Atlanta half marathon with 68:22 is optimistic to lower her time and later venture into marathon running to add on her Valencia marathon where she finished in position eight.

“I want to work my best to ensure that I lower my time. It may not be easy but I have confidence to bring it down,” she said.

The athlete, who trains under Gianni Demadonna in Kapsabet said that her training is so intense and heading for Rome with much fitness.

“My training is going on well and I have hope that once I step at the starting line, I will run my best to the finish line. I will be training on Thursday evening in Rome with much hope of victory,” she said.

In women, she will be up against home girl Giovanna Epis among other top athletes.

In the men’s race, Kenyans Wesley Kibichii who holds his personal best at 59:57, will lead compatriots Isaac Kemboi (60:11) among others.

However, the line up includes top runners like Ethiopian Mogos Tuemay (60:11) and Italian citizen Danielle D’Onofrio who has 62:32.
