Former World Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is set to attend the African Boxing Union middleweight champion Rayton Okwiri during the World Boxing Organization (WBO) fight in Nairobi.
Speaking today in Mombasa during the Okwiri sponsorship deal with betting firm 22 BET for a tune of kshs 350,000 where the company manager Sam Malonza explained The Money Team (TMT) Promotions by American boxer Floyd Mayweather and former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson have agreed to be part of the forthcoming bout said they chose to sponsor Okwiri because the pugilist has potential.
“We supported him last December when he successfully defended his ABU title. We are glad he didn’t disappoint,” Malonza said.
“We look forward to host Tyson in Nairobi soon before the fight,” said Malonza.
Accompanied by his manager David Kiilu, is set to travel to the USA tonight to training Okwiri said he was delighted by the sponsorship and promised Kenyans that he will not disappoint them in his future assignment both at home and away.
“It’s a dream come true. Now that I have a new sponsor 22Bet, expect something good from me. I’m travelling on Monday with vigour and confidence. I’m going to meet world class sparing partners who will fine tune my game to another level. My goal is to get a world title,” noted Okwiri.
Ndolo added “We want to host a commonwealth title fight under 22 BET sponsors. For the past 20 years, we have never had a commonwealth title event in Africa. So many youth have suffered, being idle with nothing to do due to the pandemic.”
