Ugandans dominate day one of ECASA championships

Uganda dominated the opening day of East, Central and Southern Africa Scrabble Championships going on at Baobab College in Lusaka, Zambia.

Philip Mugisha led his counterpart Edgar Odongkara to first and second positions of the oipeing day of the two day championships.

Kenyan top seed Patrick Gitonga Nderitu, Allan Oyende and Bernard Amuke were in third, fourth 5th positions respectively.

Mugisha, who defeated Kenyans in last year’s Kusumu national scrabble championships, played a total of 11 games, registering 9 wins with 2 losses with superior in points to take day one lead followed by Odongkara in second place with similar matches and wins as well as losses.

But Gitonga, who won the last national meeting was in third position after playing 11 matches, winning nine and losing two.

But Oyende who has dominated national championships came 4th position with eight wins and three losses before Amuke, the Scrabble Kenya chairman Amuke completed top five finishes with eight wins and three losses.
