Ugandan internationals Philip Edwin Mugisha and Edgar Odongkara took charge of day one in the National Scrabble tournament Busia.
Mugisha, who won the Kisumu title last year led the field in the Premier division, with 8 wins +667. Edgar Odongkara, also from Uganda, is in second place with an inferior spread, +657. Willy Mwangi closes the top 3 with 8 wins +498
In the Intermediate division, Willis ANGAWA, registered 10 wins out of the possible 11, with host Eric Wamalwa coming in in second place. John Sang, from Eldoret currently holds third place.
35 students registered in the Open Division, all seeking practise ahead of the WESPA Youth Cup in Malaysia.
Lagus Amukhanga leads the pack, with Linus Odour taking second place. Ian Otieno is in third place, with the best lady taking 4th place, Yvonne Amutuhaire.
Frierce competition is expected tomorrow as the competition enters it’s final day.
The winners will receive cash prizes as well as trophies and medals.
