Vihiga beat CBE in revenge mission, earn women Champions ticket

Jentrix Shikangwa bagged a brace as former Kenya Women premier league champions Vihiga Queens set up a sweet revenge against Commercial bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the CECAFA Women Championships qualifiers at the Kasarani stadium today.

It was jubilations as Vihiga beat CBE 2-1 when Shikangwa was an ultimate hero by scoring double, with the last goal through the penalty at the death the match.

The Boniface Nyamunyamu coached side will now represent the region in the continental contest scheduled for Cairo, Egypt later in the year.

Shikangwa tapped in first in the 28th minute for a 1-0 lead but CBE levelled in the 52nd minute through an on-goal by Vivian Nasaka but Shikangwa converted the penalty when Violet Wanyonyi was brought down in the box in the 93rd minute.

In the third play-off, Lady Doves of Uganda edged Tanzania’s Simba Queens 2-1.
