Kenya ready to host Deaflympics qualifiers as mascot in unveiled

Sixteen countries are set to compete for inaugural Africa Deaflympics Ball Games qualifiers that will be staged in Kenya between September 11^th and 25^th ahead of 2022 Deaflympics in Brazil

During the launch of the games today Kenya Technical Training Institute for the Deaf, Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman Gordon Oluoch confirmed that sixteen Africa nations will be competing for the championships

According to the programme, Nyayo will host Basketball, Kasarani for Kasarani among other venues across Nairobi County and today marked the official launch of the mascot, the Cheetah as the fastest animal on earth.

Kenya will be using home advantage in the prestigious deaf championships following the successful hosting of the Deaf Athletics Championship in Nairobi in 2019.

Among those nations that have confirmed their participation are Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia, Gambia, Zanzibar, Somaliland, Gabon, Egypt, Libya, Liberia, Cameroon and Mauritania.

The government through the ministry of has promoised to support the games.

Speaking during the launch, Sports PS Joe Okudo on behalf of CS Amina Mohammed said the government is ready to support the sporting family.
