Wahome in one shot lead at Coronation Trophy in Nakuru

Fresh from winning Trans Nzoia Open, the kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) in Kitale, based Matthew Wahome took the lead in the opening day of Coronation Trophy on par 73 Nakuru golf course on Saturday.

The Mombasa based golfer played two over par 148 to take the lead ahead of today’s final day to determine the winner as top amateurs search for points ahead of 2020 kenya Golf Open Championships.

Wahome fired five over par 78 in the first round before adding three under par 70 in the second round to top the charts ahead of Nandi’s Elly Barno with a shot.

Barno played two over in the opening round and returned with one over for the second position before William Odera, who lost the Kenya Amateur Match Play to Paul Muchangi ending the podium tying in second with Barno.

Odera recorded level par in the opening round and three over in the second with title defending champions Mike Kisia from Vet Lab in 4th with four over par 150 and Nandi chairman Kenduiwo Mutai in 5th on  with similar score.
