Wamira siblings earn Kenya gold as Africa Deaf Athletics Championships continue

Family members Berry and David Wamira won two gold medals for Kenya in the second day of inaugural Africa Deaf Athletics championships at Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

As the Berry claimed her second gold in 200m after winning her first gold yesterday in 100m, her brother David won gold in the 200m as Kenya dominated the championships.

Berry commanded a podium sweep after she clocked 26:27 followed by Linet Wanjala before Ruth Awuor, who won bronze yesterday in 100m, won her second bronze.

David won in 28:81 as Walter Mayenje scooping bronze in 23:04 As Nigerian Uche Mwabene spoiled 1-2-3 sweep for Kenya.

In 400m men, kenyan Isaac Atima won in 56:04 ahead Nigerian Nuclear Mohammed (57:01) and Kenyan Dennis Kiprop sealed the podium.

Ethiopian Brhane Yemane stunned Kenyans winning 5000m in 25:56 ahead of Kenyans Martin Gache who led a podium sweep in 10,000m yesterday to finish second in 15:13 and Kiplagat Korir ending the podium in 16:01.
