We are ready for Sirikwa Classic, says LOC as they released participating athletes

Local Organizing Committee for this year’s Sirikwa Classic, the World Athletics Cross Country gold tour have assured Kenyans that they ground is almost ready for the race set for Saturday 4th at the Lobo Village, in Uasin Gishu County.

Led by CEO Barnaba Korir they released the list of participating athletes in one of the competitive races in the country.

Korir also revealed that they have good prize money that befits the stature of the race.

The prize money will be awarded in each category with winners in senior men and women expected to carry home sh 600,000 as the lowest, position at 15 gets sh 200,000.

Chairman Ibrahim Hussein affirmed that preparations are 90 percent complete with two days left to the event.

Hussein  revealed that there will be little changes on the course of the race that will do away with muddy patches after realising that some athletes sustained injuries during the inaugural edition last year.

According to Hussein , the designers of the course are keen to produce thrilling event in which a 2km meandering loop will have tents which runners will run through as spectators cheer them from each side.

“We have maintained two artificial hills, added some logs and incorporated some tents. We have very big tents where athletes will run through. We shall have spectators and coaches on each side of the tents with music, soft drinks. It will be very interesting.” added Hussein.
