We will account for every coin, Mwendwa tell Senate

Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has revealed that they will account for every coin they have spent since ascending to office in 2016.

Defending his name in the Senate today, Mwendwa said the federation has not done anything in misusing funds, which is under inspection by the ministry of Sports.

Last month Sports Cabinet Secretary ordered proper inspection of the federation.

“The inspection is going on well and we are yet to receive a response. What is currently happening is not an audit but an inspection. This is the first time this is happening under the current Sports Act,” Mwendwa said.

He further said the current office has a reputation of transparency in as far as their dealings are concerned, pointing to the amicable relationship with world football governing body, Fifa.

Mwendwa, accompanied by federation’s CEO Barry Otieno appeared before the Senate Committee on Labour and Social Welfare where Senators Mutula Kilonzo, Johnstone Sakaja, among others.
