The final day of World Athletics Under 20 Championships was good for Kenya as Wilson Wilson Chepkwech led David Kapaito Sekento to win gold and silver in the 1,500m race at the World Athletics Under 20 championships in Oregon, USA.
Coming from Andersen High school in Trans nzoia County, Chepkwech led David kapaito in a 1-2 podium finish by Kenyans.
The 17 year old also won the Kipkeino Classic 800m race in the junior category, won gold after timing 3:37.46 as his personal best.
Experienced Kapaito won silver in 3:38.32 with personal best in the 1,500m.
Kapaito has gained experience after winning gold medal in the 1,500m at the 2025 East Africa Secondary School Games, won 1,500m gold at the Africa School Games in Algeria in 2025 as well as a gold in the 1,500m at the Africa Youth Games in Angola in 2025.
Bronze was won by Moroccan Osama Er Redouani in 3:39.68 as his personal best too.
