Wiyeta, Kitale, madira among others make it to semis at school games in Kakamega

Champions Wiyeta, former champions St Anthony’s Kitale, Butere, Madira among others will be facing off at the semifinals of the ongoing Kenya secondary schools Sports association (KSSSA) in Kakamega.

Shanderema defeated Kirangari  of Central -0 in their last pool A match to emerge as winners while  Rift valley’s Kitale, lost their last pool B match to Nairobi’s Dagoretti 1-0 to finish second. Dagoretti, who finished first in pool B take on Nyanza’s Agoro Sare who who finished second in pool A after a 7-0 win over Khorof Harar in their final match.

 “We agree that we are the underdogs in these championships but we have proven a point that we are a team to reckon. We are not worried about our opponents no matter the big name,” Shanderema head coacj Kevin said Asuba.

Kirigari’s Joseph Mburu said they have learnt a lesson and come next year, they would have prepared well.

In the girls football, champions Wiyeta from rift valley thrashed Mbitini 6-0 to finish top in pool A ahead of Western’s Madira who played to a draw against Lwak Girls of Nyanza. In other matches, Butere advanced to the semifinals without playing after their opponents Njambini fielded a non student and were handed a walk over as dagoretti Mixed were 4-1 winners over Kombani.
