Zanzibar eliminated Kenya’s Harambee Stars from the Mapinduzi Cup final following their 1-0 during today’s final match.
Played in round robin format, the Francis Kimanzi coached team need a win for them to qualify into the final to play against Burkina Faso set for Monday at the Gombani Stadium in Zanzibar.
Kenya had amassed 4 points from the past two matches, a 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso and 2-0 win over Tanzania unlike their counterparts who had 3 points after 2-0 win over Tanzania and a 2-0 loss to Burkina Faso.
Kenya was forced to end the match with one man less following the straight red card to captain Aboud Omar after an altercation with the referee in the 70th minute, giving an opportutnity for the hosts to dominate with numbers when Ali Inzaghi head in the lonely winning goal.
