Seventy eight amateurs are set to battle for the inaugural Diani Beach Masters, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) series this weekend at the Diamonds Leisure Lodge.
The three day event set to tee off tomorrow, playing all the way to Sunday at the picturesque par 72 course has attracted top players including national team Captain John Lejirma, Michael Karanga, and Elvis Muigua, alongside top lady golfer Joyce Wanjiru.
The Kenya Golf Union (KGU) revived the Diani Masters event and attached to the amateurs event in the 2024 calendar that was released in November last year.
KGU Chairman David Ndung’u expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are excited to welcome players and fans alike to the NCBA Diani Masters. This tournament not only showcases the incredible talent within our golfing community but also promotes the beautiful region of Diani as a premier destination for sports tourism. The three-day 54-hole stroke play Championship has drawn the Amateurs from across the Country where all the golfers will play in the first two rounds after which the top 33 and ties will make the cut to the final round to be played on Sunday.
Top players will earns points to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC ).
The Diani event follows the Nandi Bears Open Shield held at the Nandi Bears Golf Club at the beginning of the month where home player Elly Barno clinched his first title.
