AK pick Kipruto as Kamworor replacement at Olympics

Former world under 20 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto has replaced injured Geoffrey Kamworor ahead of Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan

Kipruto, who did not finish the national trials in 10,000m was selected by Athletics Kenya as the medal prospect when the 10,000m will be hosted on Friday at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo

Team manager Barnaba Korir, on his twitter announced yesterday on his twitter account that they have replaced Kamworor.

“We are pleased to announce that Rhonex Kipruto is the latest inclusion to our athletics team for Tokyo Olympics.” Wrote Korir.

The world championships 10,000m bronze medalist will be joined by commonwealth Games 10,000m bronze medalist Ronald Kwemoi and Weldon Kipkirui to marshal the medal prospects for Kenya.

Kamworor sustained an ankle injury in training this week, was a big medal prospect in the team after winning Kenyan trials for the Tokyo Games last month.
