Host Captain Geoffrey Kitiwa will lead home golfers as top amateur golfers chess for points in the two day event that tees off on Saturday to Sunday in the 36 hole play.
Kitiwa will team up with home golfers led by former captains Jack Tuwei, Anand Lakhani, James Wawer, sandeep Grewal and top club player aaron Kitur as they chase the title on home course.
Kitiwa said despite the much rain pounding on the course, they are ready to host the big two day tournament.
He said that since they are renovating greens on hole one and two, they will be using temporally greens for the Saturday and Sunday event.
“We have a big entry for golfers for the tournament and the course is in good condition despite the rain. We are now using temporally greens since we are building holes one and two,” said Kitiwa adding that the club is sponsoring the event since they have lacked a sponsor.
Series leader Samuel Njoroge will give the tournament a wide berth as second placed Daniel Nduva of Nyali, Simon Njogu from Great Rift in third will be the star attraction at the tournament.
On the first tee at 8:00 am, Njogu will play alongside Nduva, Vet Lab’s Mike Kisia and junior golfer Tuimur Malik, the Tea Field champion in Kericho.
Njogu has won two meetings, Coast Open and Muthaiga Open that has propelled him to the position.
