Three-time world 1,500m champion Asbel Kiprop is nursing wounds following an accident with a motorcycle.
The former Olympic Games 1,500m champion clarified that the news circulating on social media over bar fight or social joint fight were not true.
On his facebook page, he wrote: “Always be on Helmet when riding on a bike no matter the locality or distance. It’s a Shame… How negativity in our society sells over Positivity. So my snitches seem to attract an eye over my innocence protest? Wait..! Hell No.”
When contacted on Friday morning, the Africa 1,500m champion said that he was involved in road accident last Friday not even Thursday as they claim.
“I was involved in a road accident. It was not a bad one and am now fine,” he said.
“The accoident happened last Friday afternoon when I was heading to one of my farms back in the village. It did not happen on tarmac but murram road not bar fighting as I have been reading on social media,” he clarified.
“After the incident, I went to Eldoret hospital where I was treated and am now back home recuperating well,” he said.
He joins three time world half marathon champion Geoffrey Kamworor and two time world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion Celliphine Chepteek Chespol who have had a motorcycle accident.
