Shujaa, the national rugby 7s team fell to Samoa at the World Sevens Series play off during the Los Angeles promotion cum relegation playoff in the USA.
The Dignity Park encounter did not match after Kenya went down 19-12 as they seek for 7s Series second division following recent restructuring by World Rugby.
Shujaa went down first when Samoa’s Owen Niue crossed the line first with Tila Mealoi missing the conversion for 5-0 lead. And with Vincent Onyala on sinbin, Samoa capitalized on numbers to score the second try through Kirisimasi Savaiinaea and Mealoi converting for 12-0 lead.
Resilient Shujaa scored through Nygel Pettersan Amaitsa and converting his try for 12-7 at halftime and on resumption, Samoa’s Motu Opetai went past the line with Mealoi converting to extend the lead to 19-7.
Determined Amaitsa touched down again with Anthony Omondi missing the conversion for 19-12 at the final whistle.
