Kenya Badminton Federation of Kenya will host their election on August 25th , to enable players to compete and proudly represent Team Kenya.
During the meeting, Humphrey Kayange encouraged the importance of granting badminton players the opportunity to contribute to the sport. He emphasized that players, administrators, and stakeholders should work collaboratively to ensure efficient and player-centric operations within the badminton community.
The composition of the committee was also addressed, with John Ogolla, Secretary General for the Weightlifting Federation, being suggested as the chair. To maintain objectivity and avoid biases, the committee will comprise individuals who have no direct affiliation with badminton. Player representatives, if registered by June, will be selected to join the committee, ensuring that players’ interests remain at the forefront of administrative decisions. Communication channels and forms will be provided to facilitate effective communication within the committee.
Furthermore, recognizing the significance of inclusion, a recommendation was made to incorporate Para badminton as a stakeholder within the committee. This step aims to ensure that the voices and needs of Para badminton athletes are fully represented in the decision-making processes.
Francis Mutuku, leading the team expressed optimism regarding the future of the Badminton Federation, acknowledging the historical challenges in leadership within the sport. Mutuku revealed that NOC-K has been granted the authority to support the process until a duly constructed Board of Executive Committee is established, ensuring the smooth functioning and development of badminton in Kenya
