Taking homeground advantage, Elly Barno edged out top golfers to win the 2024 edition of Nandi Bears Open Shield title, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championships (KAGC) played at the par 72 Nandi Bears Golf Club.
Barno, who enjoyed the lead from day one in the three day 54 tournament fired a total of one over par 217 on his home course, the first title in his amateur career.
On Friday’s round one, he managed three under par 69 to take a two shot lead before firing three over par 75 in the second round and managed to roll in one over 73 in the third and final round today for the title.
He defeated kenya Railways Isaac Makokha with two shots at 219 and Nakuru’s John kamais completing the podium at five over par 221.
