Eldoret Falcons failed to dominate at home against Oserian fc in the Kenya Women Premier (KWPL) held on Saturday after at Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret.
Despite enjoying home support, The Falcons failed to score again against flower girls from Naivasha.
Brenda Sirikwa scored the lone goal to continue with bad start of the season by their hosts in the league that has only collected four points from five games played in the Zone B.
As the match was headed for a barren draw, Sirikwa’s 56th minute goal broke the deadlock for the Oserians who moved second on the table after collecting ten points in four games played.
With their quest to win the KWPL title, the win has boosted their morale ahead of next week’s match against leaders Vihiga Queens.
With no shot on target for the hosts, Sirikwa capilised on Falcons Defence confusion to score the only goal for the three much needed points.
The masculine Sirikwa forced through with her long pass with Eldoret keeper Annet Kundu reaching to the ball first but her clearance on the edge of the box hit Sirikwa in the stomach and the ball rolled freely into the empty net.
With the loss, Eldoret based team remains with four points from five matches played contrary to the flower girls from Naivasha climbing to second place with ten points from four matches.
The win was a relief for head coach Hudson Odari who said a series of wins boosts the morale of players.
“I know our next match is against the best of the best Vihiga Queens and we expect a tough match. Winning today gives us an opportunity to face opponents with superiority compared to when we lose,” said Odari.
