CAF postpones Women AWCOF qualifiers

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has postponed the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Qualifiers.

The fixtures set to start on June 7-15, 2021 has been moved to an announced date.

The federation’s secretary general in a letter sent it confirmed that the qualifiers have been postponed just like that of the men’s World Cup Qualifiers.

“CAF Organizing Committee of Women Football decided to postpone the qualifiers of the women Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2022 In line with the postponement of the Men World Cup Qualifiers. The reasons for the postponements were based on the actual conditions of certain stadiums in Africa and the restrictions related to COVID19.” The letter read.

The first round of the Qualifiers will now take place during FIFA windows of 18-26 October 2021, while the second round will take place from 14-23 February 2022.

“The 1st round will now take place in the FIFA window of 18 to 26 October 2021 and the second round will take place in the FIFA window of 14th to 23rd February 2022.”
