Commonwealth Games 3,000m steeplechase silver medalist Celliphine Chespol and Edward Cheserek were crowned the champions of the 82nd edition of Manchester Road Race held today in Manchester, England.
The two time world under 20 champion, Chesipol started with a fast pace as Emily Sisson from United States led the way but was closely followed by defending champion Buze Diriba.
At 19 her last kick won her the race in 24:33 folowed by Diriba who crossed the line a second later with third place going to the 2016 winner Sisson of 24:36.
But much credit was on Edward Cheserek who broke the course record after defeating defending champion Paul Chelimo as well as Scotsman Andy Butchart.
The 24 year old broke Aaron Braun time set in 2012 timing 21:19.37 to 21:19as Chelimo was second in 21:44 while Buchart closed the podium three finishes in 21:45.
