Chapa Dimba: Tartar Girls, Kapenguria wins Rift Valley title

West Pokot County was the greatest winner of the inaugural Rift Valley Chapa Dimba, a Safaricom football tournament played today at Narok’s stadium.

Tartar Girls from and Kapenguria Heroes all from West Pokot County, an area associated with cattle rustling, were crowned the champions of the tournament, becoming the Rift Valley heroes.

Tarttar Girls humiliated Elgeyo Marakwet’s Iten Ladies 7-1 in a lazy one sided afternoon match.

David Majak netted a brace through spot kicks for Kapenguria Heroes to beat Nakuru AllStars 2-0 in boys final match.

the winners-Tartar, Kapenguria Heroes- pocketed Ksh200,000 and sealed a slot in the finals of the competition set for Nairobi next year.

The two teams also remain in contention to win this competition’s overall title, an achievement that comes with Sh1,000,000 prize money, plus a chance to travel to London to visit and train alongside Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama.

Seven other regional finals, including Western, Nairobi, Nyanza and Coast, are lined up in the coming months, with each region producing a men and women’s team to grace the national finals.
