Double Olympic Games champion Beatrice Chebet and former World 10,000m silver medalist Stanley Waithaka Mburu will lead Kenyan onslaught at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League series.
Chebet and Mburu among others named by Athletics Kenya will be seeking to qualify for World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in the 5,000m women and 10,000m men at this Saturday in Eugene, Oregon, USA.
The double world cross country champion, Chebet will lead the world 10km road record holder Agnes Ng’etich, former African 10,000m champion Caroline Nyaga, Margaret Akidor, Maurine Jepkoech, Janeth Chepngetich, Sarah Wanjiru, Caroline Kariba, and Hellen Ekalale.
Mburu will lead the men’s 10,000m alongside Nicholas Kipkorir Kimeli, Ishmael Kipkurui Rokitto, former World U20 champion Benson Kiplangat, Richard Etir, Mathew Kipsang, Matthew Kipkoech, Edwin Kurgat, Gideon Rono, Samwel Chebolei, and Vincent Langat.
