The police officer based at Nairobi’s Central police Station is optimistic that due to her top shape and fitness gained this year will enable her to run her best.

This will be her first race this year after completing the year on a high note by winning the second leg of Athletics Kenya cross country championships in Nandi on 19th December 2020.

“I have been preparing well for the championships and you know how competitive it is. To be sincere I was fit enough to compete at the championships but God will guide my ways and plans,” said Chelangat.

Coming from Kericho County, Chelangat dominated the world of sports while a junior, said this year she has good plans and through prayers, she will make it to the top.

“My target now is to run at NPS, cut the team for national championships cum trials ahead of Africa cross country championships, which is not a walk in the park but determination,” said Chelangat.

She will be hoping to retain her national title: “I want to retain my national title,” said the 2015 Youth Commonwealth 3,000m champion.
