Sharon Chepchumba managed top points when Malkia Strikers, the national women volleyball team lost the opening match of the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
It was a bad day for Paul Bitok led team who succumbed to hosts Japan in straight sets of 15-25, 11-25, and 23-25.
The youthful Chepchumba scored 18 points as the top scorer with Japan’s Ai Kurogo and Mayu Ishikawa scored 13 points apiece.
Kenya next play South Korea on Tuesday.
