Chepkoech and Cherotich to Marshall steeplechase at Paris Olympic Games final

The world 3,000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech and former world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion Faith Cherotich will be Marshalling Kenyans at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in France.

The world bronze medalist Cherotich finished second in 9:10.57 in heat one on her debut behind Ugandan Peruth Jemutai who won in 9:10.51.

However, it was a bad day in office for Jackline Chepkoech finished last to miss out on a place in the final as Kenyan-born Bahraini Winfred Mutile Yavi won the race in 9:15.11 followed by Ethiopian Sembo Almayew (9:15.42) while American Valarie Constien clocked 9:16.33 for third place.

Competing in the last heat, Chepkoech ensured Kenya will have two representatives in the final when she dominated the race to win in 9:13.56
