Viola Chepng’eno won the Gent Half marathon race held yesterday in Gent, Belgium.
Chepngeno was crowned the champion ahead of compatriot Beatrice Mutai and Uganda’s Rachael Zena Chebet.
The Kenyan Chepng’eno won the title in 67.25 with Mutai crossing the line in 67:29 and Chebet closing the podium in 69.47
Netherlands Jill Holterman could not lower her personal best as she came home in fourth place with Hanna Vandenbusscheger from Belgium coming home in fifth in 1:12.50 and 1:13.47 respectively.
In men, Ugandan Victor Kiplangat won the top honours beating Kenya’s Evans Mayaka and Josphat Kipchirchir and Nicholas Chelule.
He cut the tape in 60.11 with Mayaka coming home in second place in a time of 61.02
