Timothy Cheruiyot graduated from silver to gold at the concluded IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Cheruiyot, who won silver in 2017 behind champion Elijah Manangoi, who failed to compete this year due to an injury won gold on the last day of the championships to give Kenya her 5th gold.
The Diamond League winner won the title in 3:29.26 beating Algeria’s Taoufik Makhloufi (3:31.38) and Marcin Lewandowski of Poland (3:32.72).
It was disappointing for Ronald Kwemoi who finished seventh in 3:32.72
