Two time Lagos marathon champion Abraham Kiptum and new star Janet Rono were the winners of Daegu International marathon, the IAAF Silver Label Road race.
The Kenyan duo ran the fastest time on Sunday to claim victory in men and women races respectively.
Kiptum chopped off 22 seconds of the course record after in 2:06:29, le4ading Kenyan contingent to 1-4 podium positions. He was followed by Evans Korir who crossed the finish line six seconds later with a Personal Best of 2:06:35 Peter Some took third place in 2:06:49, the second-fastest time of his career. All three men finished inside the previous course record of 2:06:51, set in 2014 by Yemane Tsegay.
Elisha Rotich was fourth place in 2:07:50 and Dazza crossed the line in fifth place in 2:08:33 on what was his marathon debut.
Janet Rono’s victory was a decisive one, won the race in 2:28:01. Korean Ahn Seul-Ki who settled for second place with a personal best of 2:28:17, Pamela Rotich was in third place in 2:28.45 followed by Winnie Jepkorir (2:28.49
