Dagoretti High played out to a one-all draw in the soccer match against Ruwuiko in the East African Secondary School Games played today Arusha, Tanzania Games.
Paul Odhiambo scored the goal for Nairobi Champions in the 8th minute before Neva Kaboma equalized for the hosts in the 75th minute as they prepare to face multiple champions St. Mary’s Kitende of Uganda tomorrow on Tuesday.
Kenya champions St. Anthony Kitale will return to the field on Monday to face defending champions Buddo of Uganda seeking to build on their tournament opener 4-0 win against Tanzania’s Lindi SS.
In girls, Kenyan finalists Itigo, who are returning into the championships registered similar score against hosts Alliance High 1-1 at the same venue.
Alliance took the lead in the 25th minute courtesy of Aisha Hamisi but Eunice Jepleting levelled the score in the 24th minute in a team that consists of Harambee Starlets player Martha Amanyolete.
But Kenyan champions Nyakach Girls defeated compatriots Arch Bishop Njenga Girls 2-1. The match was as the same as the final of the national championships where Nyakach beat compatriots 2-0 at the finals.
In girls volleyball, Kenyan champions Kwanthanze Secondary School beat St. Alloys of Rwanda in straight sets of 25-14, 25-19,25-17 in Pool A opener.
Kwanthanze face Tanzanian side Mkalapa High School in their second match on Monday afternoon and a win will put them in the last four.
In boys, Kenya’s Lelmokwo lost for the second successive day as they went down 3-1(20-25,25-15,15-25,21-25) to Rwanda’s Don Bosco Gatenga.
Moi Girls Kamusinga Secondary School, Kimilili Boys Secondary School and Dagoretti High School in handball and rugby 15s respectively.
Kimilili Boys and Moi Girls Kamusinga were victorious in their handball matches. Kimilili beat Rwanda’s ES Kigoma 29-28 Rwanda while Kamusinga whip Vwawa High School 33-12.
In rugby 15s, Dagoretti High School beat compatriots Kangaru Boys High School 32-5 in their second match.
Kenya boys’ basketball champions Laiser Hill Academy and Dagoretti High School started well winning all their matches.
Laiser Hill beat Don Bosco of Tanzania 65-34 while Dagoretti beat College Marie Reine from Rwanda 53-49.
In the girls’ matches, Kenya’s Kaya Tiwi lost their first match 66-58 to arch-rivals St Mary’s Kitende from Uganda.
Uganda’s Nabisunsa beat Tanzania’s St Joseph and Mary 62-36 ,St Noah of Uganda defeated Macheme from Tanzania 78-16, while LDK of Rwanda overcame Juhudi from Tanzania 49-32 .
In netball, Nyakach Girls Secondary School suffered a humiliating 96-24 loss to Uganda champions St Mary’s Kitende.
In hockey, boys’ champions St Anthony’s Boys Kitale, St Cecilia Misikhu and St John’s Kaloleni began their campaigns by winning their respective matches.
St Anthony’s began their title defence with a 1-0 win over Meru School, while national champions Misikhu routed Nyamira Girls 3-0 in the opening all-Kenyan clashes.
