Double win for Shujaa at Africa Solidarity sevens tournament

Shujaa, the national rugby sevens team started on a high at the second leg of the Rugby Africa Solidarity sevens tournament campaign today in South Africa.

The Innocent Simiyu led side won all their two opening matches against Zimbabwe and South Africa 2 as they await South Africa 1 in their third match at 1530 hours.

In the opening match, Alvin Otieno bagged a brace as Kenya defeated Zimbabwe 28-12 before beating South Africa 2 19-12.

In the opener, opened the try through Otieno’s two converted tries for a 14-0 lead before Nelson Oyoo added the second converted try for a 28-0 lead but Nelson Madiba made a consolation try with Bil Ofonzwo adding the extras for a 28-07 win for Kenya.

In the second match, Shujaa came from a try down to down South Africa 2 19-12 to register second straight win.

The hosts scored for a 7-0 lead but Collins Injera’s converted try levelled the score at 7-7 but South Africa 2 made their second try for a 12-07 lead as Daniel Taabu’s converted try gave Shujaa a 12-14 lead before Vincent Omanyala made the last unconverted try for a 12-19 win.
