Eldoret golfers dominated the Western Kenya Golf League against the visiting Njoro Club in a Matchplay played at Eldoret golf club on Sunday (27th).
With much anticipated competition, no team, out of five managed to play to the last eighteen hole with hosts winning four out of five.
Njoro won in the first team with 3/2 as retired General Simon Karanja and Steve Mwangi ensured that home pair of Aaron Kitur and Nathan Tororei was out of the tournament.
Karanja single handedly made his intentions clear as his putting was excellent leaving hosts in shock. The match could have ended on hole 13 but Tororei saved the situation by sinking a birdie to ensure continuity but with two holes ahead. Karanja’s superb putt concluded the play.
Team two comprising Dr. Koros Kiptoo and former Elgeyo Marakwet deputy governor Gabriel Lagat gave Eldoret a win with 4/3 against the visiting Vincent Mwaniki and Willy Muthokia.
It was the similar version with the third team led by Eldoret golf club chairman Andrew Chelogoi and Professor David Some who won against P. Munyiri and J. Kanyoro 4/3.
Youngster Rishab Sagoo and Parit Sangrajka won easily against Njoro’sR. Kikwai and D.Njue by 7/6. This was the easiest win of all teams before George Njoroge and former Captain James Waweru shining over K.Karanja and S. Minyire 4/2.
