Bravin Kogei and Feliciana Kanda led another host county athletes to control track events at the Rift Valley Secondary school Sports Association (RVSSSA) Games that kicked today at Tambach Teachers Training College.
Kogei and Kanda who missed a ticket to represent Kenya at the world cross Country champions in Aarhus, Denmark were the winners of 10,000m and 5,000m boys and girls races respectively to book for national championships set for Mombasa next month.
Coming from The Kombatich secondary school won the 10,000m race timing 29:50.6 ahead of Samuel Limo of Trans Nzoia timing 30:04.0 as Noah Kimutai from Sinonin in baring completed the podium in 32:25.2.
Kogei is the young brother of the world under 20, 10,000m champion Rhonex Kipruto under coach Brother Connell Colm.
Kanda won the women’s 5,000m race timing 16:23.0 ahead of Agnes Jebet (16:35.6) and Sarafina Kibet in 17”03.2.
The form four student at Kapsait secondary runs alongside world under 20 5,000m champion Edward Zakayo who wants to compete in Africa Youth championships while Jebet, a form two student at kapkenda Girls wants the national title.
