Eliud Kipchoge to debut at New York City marathon

Double Olympic Games marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge will highlight the 2025 New York City Marathon set for November 2nd 2025.

Fresh from finishing 9th at the Sydney marathon in Australia with 2:18:22, the former world marathon record holder will be making his debut at the race, as the only World Marathon Majors race that he has not competed in his career.

They also announced that the reigning Olympic Games marathon champion Sifan Hassan will be at the starting line, joining Kipchoge who also won the Sydney marathon late last month after timing 2:19:00.

The duo join a field that includes men’s and women’s defending champions Abdi Nageeye of the Netherlands and Sheila Chepkirui of Kenya, and past winners Albert Korir and Evans Chebet, also from Kenya
