Kenya under 23 football team Emerging Stars started their CECAFA 23 tournament on a high note, beating Djibouti in the opening pool C match at the Bahir stadium in Ethiopia.
The Stanley Okumbi led team won 3-0 to lead pool C with three goals and three points.
The Emerging Stars goals were scored by John Njuguna as Reagan Otieno doubled the score before Benson Omalla sealed the victory.
Ulinzi Stars midfielder Njuguna opened the scoring in the 11th minute Otieno headed in the 64th minute and substitute Omalla sealed the victory in the 88th minute.
The win was good as it motivated the lads ahead of their second match against South Sudan on Wednesday, who only need a draw to proceed to the semifinals.
