Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Lilian Odira are best Kenyans at Rabat Diamond League

Olympic champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi finished second in Rabat, the third leg of Wanda Diamond league Morocco.

The world silver medalist finished second in 1:43.56 behind the winner Max Burgin of the Great Britain in 1:42.98 with Algerian Slimane Moula completed the podium in 1:43.73.

World champion Lilian Odira was third in her 800m race  IN 1:57.27 where Switzerland’s Audrey Werro won the title in 156.56 followed by Ethiopian Tsige Duguma at 1:57.24.

Fresh from winning Africa javelin title, former Olympic silver medalist Julius Yego settled in psotion five after hauling 80.59 metres when Germany Anderson Peters won the title when he threw 86.08 metres followed by Sri Lanka’s Tharanga Rumesh (85.97) and Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorm Walcot completed the podium in 82.52.

World bronze medalist Reynold Cheruiyot was 7th in the 1,500m while Festus Lagat was 13th. American Yared Nuguse won the race followed by Portguese Isaac Nader and Azeddine Habz.

Nancy Jepngetich and caren Chepchirchir finished in 10th and 11th positions in the women 1,500m.

With three Kenyans in the 3,000m steeplechase men, Simon Kiprop Koech was top after finishing third in 7:59.44 with world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion Edmund Serem in 4th as Abraham Kibiwot was a distance 9th.
