World 3000m steeplechase bronze medalist Faith Cherotich has been nominated for the World Athletics (WA) women’s Rising Star Awards.
The reigning world under 20 3,000m steeplechase champion was nominated following her dominace in the water and barriers race.
She won bronze medal at the world Athletics championships in Budapest Hungary, silver at the world U-20 at world cross country.
Cherotich will compete for the award with Ethiopian Medina Eisa, who won silver in the women’s U-20 cadre at the World Cross Country Championships.
She was placed sixth in the 5,000m in a personal best of 14:16.54 at the World Championships and was fourth in the 5km at the World Road Running Championships in Riga, Latvia.
The winner of the 2023 Women’s Rising Star Award will be selected by an international panel of experts and be announced on World Athletics’ platforms.
