Kenya Railways golfer George Felix defeated Muthaiga’s Jeff Kubwa by a shot to claim the Linda Maji Mtaani Pro-Am golf tournament played on par 71 ldoret golf club.
Felix fired six under 136 to claim the pros title ahead Kubwa’s 137 in a tournament sponsored by Eldoret Water and Sanitation (ELDOWAS) company as they plan to play at the Safari Tour golf series at the Vipingo Ridge golf club in two weeks’ time.
Felix said that he has improved on his swing and ready to battle for the crown in one of the competitive professional series.
“Right now, I am performing well in swinging and putting, which has been a challenge for me in the past. What is needed is little to make it to the top,” said Felix.
Kubwa, who returned on his home club of Eldoret where he was brought up said that the professional golfers need more sponsorship to compete with the rest of the world.
“Many Corporates have concentrated on juniors and amateurs forgetting that professionals exist in the country. After sponsoring juniors, they turn into amateurs but after amateurs some may not transit to professionals for lack of tournaments,” said Kubwa.
