FIFA, FKF agree to relegate Muhoroni Youth over match-fixing scandal

World Football governing body FIFA in conjunction with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) have today relegated Muhorono Youth from the National Super league, the second tier top league to Division One.

The relegation comes after successful investigation over sport malpractices through match fixing, following a directive from the FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee that found the club guilty of “activities related to the manipulation of football matches and competitions”.

“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has further ordered the relegation of the Muhoroni Youth senior team to the Football Kenya Federation Division One League (third tier) ahead of next season,” FIFA said.

Today, the FKF General Secretary Harold Ndege said the federation would continue to cooperate with all stakeholders to ensure that individuals and teams found guilty of engaging in match-fixing face the full consequences of their actions, in accordance with FIFA and FKF regulations.

“We are launching a full-scale war on match-fixing in collaboration with FIFA, CAF, and all relevant authorities. We cannot allow this vice to undermine the progress we are making to uplift the game. Anyone found culpable will face the full consequences of their actions.”

FIFA said the clubs had been notified and can appeal the decision
