Gor beat Seal to qualify into FKF Cup finals as Mara beat defending champion, face Nairobi City in semis

Former champions Gor Mahia will be facing off with new comers Mara Sugar at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup finals following the semifinal victories today at the Dandora stadium, Nairobi.

In the first semifinal, Mara defeated defending champions Kenya Police in penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time with Mara winning 9-8 where a total of 22 penalties were taken.

The then champions came from a goal down after Mara scoring first in the 10th minute through Dennis Cheruiyot for a 1-0 lead for the sugar millers.

Police leveled in the 30th minute through Brian Okoth as the match went into break locked at 1-1.

With all 11 players already kicked the ball, the return was bad for Clinton Kinanga whose shot was punched away by Evans Omondi, Fredrick Ng’iela was poised to seal the victory, which he did.

In the second encounter at the same venue, the 2021 champions Gor Mahia also won through penalties following a 2-2 draw against Murang’a Seal 5-3.
