Home Golfer Greg Snow extended his lead with two shots lead David Opati in the second round of Safari Tour Golf series on par 71 Muthaiga golf club today.
Snow who led the first round with two shots, took advantage of the home course, returned a decent score of 1-under par 70 in the second Round to take his total for the two rounds to 5-under par 137 to maintain the overall lead.
On the first nine, he dropped shots at the first, second and sixth holes but amends with birdies on the seventh and eighth holes for a total of 38. On the back nine, he hit birdies on the 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th with a lone bogey on the 16th taking his total to 32.
Windsor based David Opati returned an impressive score of 5-under par 66, for a total of 3-Under Par 139 for the two rounds, to claim second place on the leader-board and claim the day’s lead going into Round Three.
On the first nine, he dropped shots on the Par-3 fifth and the Par-4 sixth, but made amends with birdies on the Par-4 third and the Par-5 fourth for a total of 36. It’s on the back nine that he upped the ante to start off with an eagle at the Par-5 10th followed by birdies on the 15th, 17th and 18th holes for blemish-free total of 30.
Nyanza’s David Odhiambo maintained his decent form to finish the Round at 2-over par 73, for a total of level par 142; enough to cement third spot going into the third round of the tournament tomorrow.
Meanwhile, 27 players made the cut – which was set at 12-over par – going into the final two rounds. Four amateurs; Akshay Chandaria, Mutahi Kibugu, Edwin Mudanyi and Zubair Khan are among those who will be battling it out for the top honours starting tomorrow at 8:00am.
